In March 2012, Barbara Jenkins was appointed as the superintendent for Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, Florida, the 10th largest district in the country with more than 173,000 students. Previously, Jenkins served as deputy superintendent in Orange County Public Schools, where she supervised the Division of Teaching and Learning including area superintendents. Prior to that role, Jenkins served as chief of staff for the district and before that as chief human resources officer.
