The Broad Residency 2007-2009

When I think about the achievement gap, my emotions range from sadness to rage. In our great nation, how can we not ensure that every child has the opportunity to receive an education that will afford them a variety of choices in life? Fifty years after Brown vs. Board of Education, we still watch as children of color and children in low-income communities continue to perform significantly below many of their peers. Each of us has a fundamental responsibility to make certain that school districts across the United States can succeed at the highest levels. The Broad Residency affords me the opportunity to be a part of the change I wish to see--and to use my skills to pursue my wildest dream of educational equity.

During The Broad Residency, Cate Reed (The Broad Residency 2007-2009) was Broad Resident for High School Reform: Excel 9-12 with Pittsburgh Public Schools.
