Senior director, Data, research and evaluation
Rakhee Patel’s inner nerd flourished at a young age with the encouragement of many teachers along the way, especially her chemistry teacher, Dr. Zinn, a trailblazing female scientist dedicated to making complicated learning accessible to all students.
That inspiration led Rakhee to pursue a bachelor’s in mathematics from Wellesley College, and motivated her to earn both a master’s and doctorate in statistics from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she developed research and data analysis expertise she could use to level the playing field for all students.
Knowing first-hand the positive impact that family, mentors and educators had in her own educational journey, Rakhee wanted to make sure all students had that same supportive experience.
At The Broad Center, Rakhee is using data to measure and share stories about the Center’s impact on K-12 education. Through her data analysis and evaluation, TBC leadership can also make strategic decisions about future programming and supports for our network members.
In her spare time, the karaoke and Cleveland sports enthusiast volunteers as a tutor and test prep team leader for Minds Matter LA, a nonprofit that helps high-achieving students from low-income families prepare for college and success beyond.
What are people often surprised to learn about you?
That I’m a die-hard Cleveland sports fan.
What advice would you give your younger self?
I would tell my younger, timid self to be more confident in myself and abilities.
What others say about Rakhee:
