The Broad Residency 2019-2021

I grew up in a neighborhood where most parents did not attend or complete college; however, their persistence and active participation in the academic development of their children was high priority. At the time, I had no idea how hard our parents pushed to have academic programs and early child care options made available to the kids in our community. I want to ensure all children are afforded high-quality education options regardless of their zip code. With history as our teacher, I am certain that the classroom is where the battle for change and equity will continue to be fought and won.

As a Broad Resident, Candace Weber serves as the director of child care and development fund (CCDF) strategy at the Louisiana Department of Education. The CCDF is a federal and state partnership fund to promote family economic self-sufficiency and to help children succeed in school and life through affordable, high-quality early care and after school programs. In this role Candace has responsibility for data analysis, program improvement and increasing the number of families and children served as a result of CCDF investments in the state of Louisiana. Before joining The Broad Residency, Candace was a lead product marketing manager at AT&T, where she managed and grew the largest mobile security portfolio within the cybersecurity business unit. Her experience also includes leadership roles in communications, project management, customer service and operations. Candace earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus in marketing from Xavier University of Louisiana and a master’s degree in business administration from Pepperdine Graziadio Business School.
