The Broad Residency 2018-2020
I believe that all children — no matter their race, social status or family income — have the right to high-quality education and programs that broaden horizons and increase exposure. I believe that your ZIP code should not be a determining factor in your level of success. I am eager to join the fight for an equitable public education system that meets the needs of all of our children.
Damarr Smith is the project manager of competency-based education for Chicago Public Schools, supporting planning and implementation for the district. Prior to joining The Broad Residency, Damarr was an Education Pioneers fellow at Thrive Chicago. There, he managed the city’s effort to recruit employers and hire opportunity youth through the 100,000 Opportunities Initiative. He also has marketing experience as an advertising consultant, providing musical concepts for leading brands. He earned a bachelor’s degree with a focus in business from Lehman College and an M.B.A. from Babson College’s F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business.
