The Broad Residency 2018-2020

Every student, regardless of who they are or where they live, deserves access to an excellent education that challenges and inspires. I can't imagine any more meaningful or urgent work than building and sustaining organizations and institutions that deliver on this promise.

Michael Blake is the managing director of operations at Uncommon Schools, where he manages school leaders and overall operations at five of the non-profit charter management organization’s schools in Brooklyn. Before joining The Broad Residency, Michael was the director of operations at Brownsville Collegiate, one of Uncommon Schools’ middle schools in Brooklyn. In this role, he oversaw all non-instructional aspects of the school, including finance, facilities, enrollment, assessments & student data, and overall school systems. Prior to this position, Michael worked in management consulting, spending two years in Dallas with The Boston Consulting Group and a year as a business innovation consultant at the Rome, Italy headquarters of the United Nation’s World Food Program. He has a bachelor’s degree in history from Duke University.
