Sarah Jane Forman is the general counsel for the Office of the State Superintendent of Education in the District of Columbia. Prior to this experience, Sarah was the associate director of the Mayor’s Office of Legal Counsel in the nation’s capitol. Previously, she was an assistant professor at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law where she taught evidence, professional responsibility, juvenile law and started her own clinic focused on representing children in the school to prison pipeline. As a fellow at Washington University School of Law, she taught in the Criminal Justice Clinic based in the St. Louis County Public Defender’s office and prior to that, she was at the Boston Committee for Public Counsel Services as a public defender working with the juvenile unit. Sarah Jane earned a bachelor’s degree in film, cinema and video studies from the University of Michigan and a juris doctorate from Boston College.
