In my community, education was the ticket. So many people around me came through the pre-civil rights times. Many of them didn't have the opportunities I was presented. They were constantly asking, "What are you doing to bring the next generation along?" Still today, they are constant reminders to me that I am in this for the children.
Wendy Robinson, superintendent of Fort Wayne Public Schools, has served for more than a decade by being a true advocate for the students and families she serves, adapting the district’s services as their needs change. Under her leadership, Fort Wayne has improved its high school graduation rate to an all-time high. Wendy’s “quiet passion and steely resolve” to help her students succeed earned her national recognition as one of Education Week’s Leaders to Learn From and the 2017 Indiana state Superintendent of the Year.
