The Broad Residency 2018-2020

I believe that education opens doors for all people, and that educational equity has the potential to solve many of the country’s most pervasive challenges. I’ve seen the impact of great schools at the individual school-level, community-level, district-level, and state-level — and that’s an impact that I want to replicate so that every student has access to an excellent education.

Zoë Rankin is the managing director of external impact at KIPP Philadelphia Public Schools, where she leads fundraising and external affairs. Zoë started at KIPP as the managing director of strategy, managing strategic projects for the chief executive officer. Prior to joining the KIPP team, Zoë served as an Obama administration appointee as the deputy chief of staff for the Office of Communications and Outreach at the U.S. Department of Education, managing communications coordination throughout the department. Prior to that, she was a special projects coordinator at Uncommon Schools. Zoë started her career as a sixth-grade language arts teacher in Charlotte with Teach for America. She earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Cornell University.
