Selection Process

What to Expect

The selection process for the Academy is rigorous and competitive. Candidates find that the experience helps them identify areas where they want to develop professionally as they better understand their own leadership.

Because the diversity of each cohort is critical to the learning and growth of each Fellow, there is no single candidate profile for prospective Academy Fellows. We offer informational calls with qualified candidates to discuss the fellowship and the individual’s career goals.

Three-Phase Selection Process

1. Phone Interview

We begin with a 60-minute telephone interview. When this call is scheduled, we ask candidates to submit a professional resume detailing their career history and accomplishments.

We make advancement decisions within two weeks of this conversation.

2. Virtual Interview and Impact Submission

Select candidates are advanced to a 90-minute virtual interview during which they will share a brief impact presentation. Candidates will be asked to submit their materials in advance.

Advancement decisions will be made within two weeks of this conversation.

3. In-Person Interview

We invite select candidates to participate in a full day of in-person interviews with Broad Academy team members and alumni. This also is a chance to meet and learn from other candidates. The interviews are held in Los Angeles, and the Academy covers expenses for travel and accommodations for these interviews.

We notify candidates of any next steps two to four weeks after this interview.

Express Interest in the Academy

The Broad Academy engages participants without regard to race, color, religion, creed, age, gender, marital status, sexual orientation or any other characteristic covered by law. All who believe they meet the stated qualifications are invited to express interest and submit a resume for consideration.
