Rae Oglesby is a member of The Broad Residency's 2018-2020 cohort and serves as Deputy Chief of Communications at Mastery Charter Schools.
I get in the office, check and respond to emails.
I meet with a local newspaper about advertisements. 2020-2021 enrollment for our Philadelphia schools begins in September, so I need to reserve advertising space in printed papers and online.
I join my standing meeting with our communications consultants a few minutes late. We need to discuss media pitches I want to make during the first week of school, plus a big statewide political issue on charter schools just came up and we want to get an OpEd written and published. Time is of the essence for this one.
I meet with the firm supporting me with our re-branding. We talk about proposed taglines and our brand book, which I will use to introduce the new branding to the entire organization once the project is completed.
I squeeze in lunch at my desk.
I meet with our development and postsecondary teams to discuss how to tell the story of our new CTE program and proposed high school redesign.
I meet with a network leader about our big back-to-school celebration. This year, we’re hosting it virtually so there are some logistical challenges. We also need to confirm the run-of-show so I can finalize the script.
I dial-in to our Chiefs check-in meeting where we talk about our plans for the upcoming year to ensure everyone is aligned and supported.
